Field Hockey Edged 2-1 in Loss to Widener

Philadelphia, PA- Senior forward Brooke Woodland (West Grove, PA/ Avon Grove) scored her team-high eighth goal of the season, but that would be all the Lady Rams (2-8) offense could generate in a 2-1 loss to the Widener University Pride (3-5) on Wednesday afternoon.

Widener junior Megan Gonzalez gave the Pride an early 1-0 lead, scoring at 5:40 in the first period. The Pride outshot the Lady Rams 14-3 in the first stanza as they trailed 1-0 at halftime.

Woodland evened it up 1-1 at the 48:21 mark in the second period as she emerged from a scramble to get the score, assisted by junior Leah Arthur (Silver Spring, MD/ Springbrook). The Lady Rams took a 7-5 shot advantage in the final period.

The Pride got the game-winner from Jackie Elliot at 58:39, assisted by Shannon Fien.

Lady Ram senior goalie Anne Strobel (Middlebury, CT/ Pomperaug) had 11 saves.

Phila U. get a brief rest before they travel to Adelphi University on Sunday, September 28^th at 12:00 p.m.
