Assistant Coach Lorraine Lasorsa Ford
Lorraine Lasorsa Ford, a 1985 graduate of Philadelphia
University, returns as an assistant field hockey coach after a
stellar athletic career as a player for the Lady Rams in 1984 and
1985. Lorraine was a Philadelphia Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (PAIAW) All-Conference
selection in her senior season and led the Lady Rams in goals
scored in 1984; while leading the team in assists and total points
in 1985. Lorraine was named a co-MVP of the 1985 team and
received the Athletic Directors' Award for most outstanding female
athlete.
A transfer from Penn State University, she managed to compete in
four intercollegiate sports during her short two years at
Philadelphia University. Although she also played basketball
and even appeared in a softball game, her career highlight was
being part of the 1985 team that posted the first winning season in
school history in lacrosse with an 8-4 record; beating Division I
Villanova University in the process.
Lorraine is returning to field hockey coaching this season, after
assisting in the late 1980's at Bishop Kenrick High School.
There, she helped guide the varsity team to their first-ever
Philadelphia Catholic League Championship in 1985 with the second
following in 1988. Lorraine also coached the junior varsity
team to an undefeated 10-0-0 that season, and had a three-year JV
head coaching record of 27-1-2.
She is currently a computer consultant and resides in Warrington,
Pa. with her husband Pat and their four children.
