Golf 2008-09 Highlights

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University golf team wrapped up the 2008-09 campaign with a seventh-place finish at the CACC Golf Championships at Frog Hollow Golf Course in Middletown, Delaware. The Rams will begin a new chapter in 2009-10  as brand new head golf coach Joseph Martin takes the reins in the fall after serving as head golf coach at Nazareth Academy for the past ten years.

Some highlights from the 2008-09 season include: senior P.J. O'Brien led his squad with an 81 at the CACC Tournament and shot an average 80.36 on the season. His season-best came vs. Holy Family on October 17th, shooting a 75. 

The PhilaU team finished three tournaments in first-place overall, they included the PhilaU Quad (339), PhilaU Dual (333) and PhilaU Triangular (351). 

Another senior- Russell Pierson- proved to be solid for the Rams, shooting a 92.50 average for the year, including a season-best 88 vs. Holy Family on October 17th

Freshmen made an immediate impact for PhilaU as Brad Krohl had a tremendous rookie outing, shooting a team second-best 82.50 on the season.  His season-high came at the PhilaU Quad on October 15th, shooting a 75.  Phil Dougherty averaged an 84.50 on the season, with a season-high of 78 in the first match of the year- the Wilmington University Fall Classic on October 28-29th

Another rookie, Meaghan Kane made strides as the team's only female golfer.  She averaged a 97 on the season, with a season-best of 85 in the PhilaU Dual on October 23rd.
