PhilaU Hires Joseph Martin as Head Golf Coach

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University Athletic Director Tom Shirley has named Joseph Martin as the head golf coach.  He comes to PhilaU from Nazareth Academy High School, where he served as the Head Varsity Golf Coach. At Nazareth, he developed the school's first women's golf team.  Under his tutelage the women's team is now one of the top three teams in the PIAA girl's division.

"As I enter my first collegiate coaching job, I'm excited about the opportunity and the potential for this program," said Martin.

Along with his experience at Nazareth Academy, he has held positions at golf institutions such as Dick's Sporting Goods and Somerton Springs Golf Shop. In the positions he held with these organizations he assisted golfers as a club technician, club fitter, and as a teacher of the game of golf. It is this experience that has given him a vast knowledge of the game, in the areas of the equipment, the rules, and the mental aspects of the game that assist both players and teams in accomplishing their goals.

A graduate of St. Joseph's University ('80), Joseph still resides in the Philadelphia, PA area. He also is also a full time student of the game of golf, as he maintains a full library in his spare time of applied theories and practices of the game from its greatest teachers and professionals.
