Frederick Claims Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors from both CACC and ECAC

Philadelphia University sophomore point guard Russell Frederick has claimed both Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) and Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week accolades for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 2.  This marks the first time that the talented product of Baltimore's Calvert Hall College High School has been honored with either league or region weekly awards.

Frederick jump-started the Rams to a 2-0 week with averages of 16.5 points, 8.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per-game as Head Coach Herb Magee's team notched their first two victories in the early regular season, raising their record to 2-5.  He shot 52.4-percent (11-for-21) from the field for the week, registering a game-high 19 points, eight assists, five rebounds and four steals in a 65-61 CACC-opening win over Wilmington University on Saturday, December 1st at the Palestra in Philadelphia.  That performance came on the heels of Frederick's 14 point, nine assist, five board and two steal outing at the Gallagher Center in a 77-58 non-conference win over West Chester University on Thursday night, November 29th.

Frederick looks to continue dishing the ball to junior guard Mike Dunn, senior forward Jason Hickenbottom and sophomore forward Malcolm Ingram as the Rams' leading scorers face a three-game week ahead.  The action commences tonight at 8:00 p.m. in Northeast Philadelphia at rival Holy Family University, continuing Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Gallagher Center against non-conference foe Cheyney University and concluding Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at home in the back end of the women's/men's CACC doubleheader with the visiting Warriors of Nyack College.
