Frederick Leads PhilaU in 68-52 Win over Lincoln
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Rams (11-3, 4-0 CACC) won their third straight men's basketball contest in a 68-52 victory over visiting Lincoln University (3-11) on Saturday afternoon. The Rams were paced by junior forward Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) who finished with 25 points, five rebounds and seven assists. He shot a season-high 75% from field goal range for the game (6-8).
The Rams led by as many as 15 points in the first half, helped by senior guard Mike Dunn's (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) three treys. Dunn finished the day with 14 points, four boards and three assists.
LU's Darren Clay hit a three at 8:44 in the first stanza to cut the Ram lead to just five, the closest the Lions would get. Clay led LU with 16 points on the day.
PhilaU led 32-20 at the half, and shot 41% from the floor for the game.
The maroon and gray went on a 15-0 run that spanned nearly five minutes in the second half, capped by a layup from junior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) at 7:42 to give PhilaU a 25 point advantage at 57-32. Yocum had six points and 10 rebounds in the contest.
Junior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) added 16 points and nine rebounds as the PhilaU sealed the 68-52 win on Herb Magee Court.
The Rams hit the road for a Tuesday, January 20th CACC date at Nyack College at 8:00 p.m.
