Superb Second Half Give Rams 73-60 Conference Win over Goldey-Beacom
Philadelphia, PA- A stellar second half that included 69% shooting from the floor aided the Philadelphia University Rams (13-3, 6-0 CACC) in a 73-60 CACC win over the visiting Goldey-Beacom College Lightning on Tuesday evening. The Rams were led by junior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) who finished with 25 points and 11 boards. The win was the Ram's fifth-straight.
GBC led for all but one minute of the first half, leading by as many as nine points with help from the Lightning's leading scorer Kyle White- who finished with 20 points.
The Rams cut the GBC lead to just five with 41 seconds remaining in the first stanza as junior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) knocked down a trey to make it 32-27 at the break. Frederick finished with a season-high eight assists along with 20 points.
PhilaU senior guard Mike Dunn (Harrisburg, PA/ Central Dauphin) hit two big threes in a two-minute span early in the second stanza to give the Rams a 35-34 lead, which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest. Dunn had 15 points in the game- all threes (5-9).
A jumper by junior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) at 9:41 remaining boosted the PhilaU lead to 49-39, as he finished the night with 10 points and six rebounds.
The Rams went 6-6 at the free-throw line down the stretch to finalize a 73-60 CACC win over GBC.
PhilaU returns to action on Saturday, January 24th at 4 p.m. to face city rival Holy Family University at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
