Men’s Basketball Ranked #25 in Preseason Poll

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University men's basketball team has been ranked 25th in the nation in the 2008 Division II Bulletin Preseason Top 25, announced today.  Junior forward Malcolm Ingram has also been recognized as a member of Street & Smith's All-America Second Team.

The Rams had quite a run in the 2007-08 season led by the winningest NCAA Division II coach in history Herb Magee, as his squad won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) title game 73-67 over Holy Family University in double-overtime and earned a second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Philadelphia native Ingram led the Rams in scoring last season with a career-high 17.0 ppg while his 8.4 rpg also topped the team.  A first-year starter for Coach Magee, the Solebury Prep product also shot a team-best 49.8% from the field and registered a team-high 13 double-doubles.  His accolades in 2007-08 included CACC first-team All-Conference, CACC Championship All-Tournament team and Daktronics second-team All-Northeast Region.

In 2008-09, the Rams return an experienced squad including junior guard Russell Frederick 11.5 ppg/4.4 rpg and senior guard Mike Dunn 10.9 ppg/3.5 rpg.  The team opens the season at the College of Saint Rose on Saturday, November 15th at 2:00 p.m.
