New Castle, DE- Going for their sixth straight win, the Philadelphia University Rams (15-6, 7-1 CACC) sealed the deal 65-60 in a tumultuous battle over the Wilmington University Wildcats (6-11, 3-5 CACC) on Thursday night.  The win was number 895 for PhilaU Coach Herb Magee, marking just five more to the 900 career wins milestone.  PhilaU senior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) had a game-high double-double with 20 points and 14 boards.

The Rams shot 48% from field goal range on the game (besting WU's 39%), as the lead changed nine times.

In the first half WU's leading scorer, Brandon Savage with 18 points/11 boards, keyed a ‘Cats run at 6:04 that gave them a 23-23 tie, only to be rebuffed by a good free-throw from PhilaU's Ingram.  On the next play, Savage swiped the ball from PhilaU senior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) to key a ‘Cats trey that would give them the lead going into the break.  Frederick had 19 points and eight rebounds for PhilaU.

The Rams fell behind 34-30 at the half.

A 55-55 tie at 4:40 in the second half would be the final stalemate of the game, as PhilaU's Ingram hit a jumper and senior guard Marcus Lemon (Alexandria, VA/ T.C. Williams) nailed a three-ball to keep the Rams ahead.  Lemon had 10 points and four dishes on the night.

Dismal free-throw shooting (38%) nearly doomed the Rams, but the maroon and gray held on for a 65-60 win.

PhilaU takes the court next on Saturday (1/30) at the Gallagher Athletic Center at 4:00 p.m. in CACC action vs. the Concordia College Clippers.
