PhilaU Men’s Basketball Ranked 19th in Preseason National Poll

DII Bulletin

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University men's basketball team received more national recognition on the eve of the official start to the 2009-10 season.  The most recent poll was released by the Division II Bulletin and put the Rams at #19 in the country in the top 25 preseason poll.

The PhilaU team was the only Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team to make the national list.

The DII Bulletin also gave nods to senior 6'4 forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) and senior 6'1 guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) as Honorable Mention All-Americans.

The list also included two PhilaU opponents this season: including #3 Southwest Baptist and #7 Merrimack.

PhilaU head coach Herb Magee will be celebrating his 50th year at the University this season, as a player, assistant coach and head coach.  He is currently third on the NCAA list for All-Time Coaching Wins (880) and will look to surpass legendary coach Bobby Knight's record of 902 wins this season.
