Mens Basketball Gets Two Preseason All-Americans, National Ranking
Philadelphia, PA- In the first preseason poll of the 2009-10 men's basketball season, the Philadelphia University Rams have landed two players on the preseason All-American list, and a nod among the top teams in the country.
The Sporting News released their national top 10 poll today, and the Rams have been included in a list of ‘possible breakthroughs' that includes the best teams in the country. PhilaU is the only Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) team to be included in this list.
The accolades also extend to two PhilaU seniors who have been named ‘Preseason All-Americans' by the Sporting News, Russell Frederick and Malcolm Ingram. Frederick was named to the NCAA All-East Region Team and was the CACC Tournament MVP in 2008 after leading the team with 16.3 ppg, along with 4.3 rpg on the season. Ingram was named to both the NCAA All-East Region Team along with the CACC All-Tournament Team after averaging 15.6ppg/8.4 rpg on the year.
The team jumps off the 2009-10 season at the Disney Tip-Off Classic in early November before hosting their home-opener on Saturday (11/21) vs. Merrimack College at 1:30 p.m.
