Lock Haven, PA- The Philadelphia University (6-2, 1-0 CACC) Rams were led by a game-high 21 points and four rebounds from senior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) in a 75-59 win at Lock Haven University (1-2) on Monday night.
LHU was led by Warren Christian who had 21 points and 14 boards.
The Rams shot 53% from the floor in the game to LHU's 43%.
In the first half the Rams never trailed but kept it close in the early minutes, leading 13-10 at 13:43 on a layup by senior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall). Frederick had 17 points, five boards and six assists.
PhilaU then went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead 20-10 as their lead swelled to 13 points at the half (36-23) Freshman guard Corey Francisco (Woodbridge, NJ/ Monmouth Academy) helped the Rams gain a comfortable lead with 3-5 sharp shooting from beyond the arc. Francisco finished with 11 points on the night (nine in the first half).
LHU would cut the PhilaU lead down to six at 49-43 with 10 minutes left to play, but Yocum got the Rams back to a comfortable distance with three consecutive baskets, including a dunk at 4:24, assisted by freshman guard Ed DiRugeris (Plymouth Meeting, PA/ Pennsbury).
PhilaU senior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) tied it all together for the Rams, hitting two layups in the final 30 seconds of the game to hang on for the 75-59 victory. Ingram finished the outing with 16 points, 11 rebounds and three steals on the night.
