Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Rams (8-4, 2-1 CACC) controlled the tempo to pull out a 70-61 non-conference win over NE-10 foe the College of St. Rose (5-4, 4-3 NE-10) on Sunday evening. PhilaU senior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Academy) led all scorers with 29 points and seven rebounds.
CSR was led by Brian Hanuschak with 16 points/13 boards.
The Rams held the advantage for all but a sliver of the contest, as senior forward Malcolm Ingram (Philadelphia, PA/ Solebury Prep) helped his squad to a 38-25 halftime lead, putting up nine points in the first half and 21 points/12 rebounds for the game.
In the second half the Rams pulled away, extending their lead to as many as 19 points at the 9:04 mark (55-36) on a senior forward Mike Yocum (Dresher, PA/ Episcopal Academy) jumper. Yocum finished with six points and seven boards on the night.
CSR got within five down the stretch, but 4-4 free-throw shooting down the stretch gave the Rams the 70-61 win.
The Rams return to action on Tuesday (12/22) at 5 p.m. vs. Pace University at the Gallagher Athletic Center.
