Rams Hold Off Late Game Heroics to Win 94-92 in OT
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University (18-6, 10-1 CACC) collectively gasped when Chestnut Hill University's (10-11, 6-6 CACC) Julian McFadden hit a 53- footer to send the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game into overtime at the buzzer. McFadden's shot might as well have been from Henry Avenue. No sweat- the Rams pulled out the game in overtime, holding on for a wild 94-92 win at the Gallagher Athletic Center and giving Coach Herb Magee his 898th all-time win.
"I was proud of our players tonight, they didn't quit and that shows what our team is made of," said Coach Magee.
The Rams shot 55% from the floor for the game, outmatching CHC's 49%. PhilaU senior guard Russell Frederick (Baltimore, MD/ Calvert Hall) led all scorers with 24 points and dished out seven assists.
In the overtime stanza, the lead see-sawed between the rivals with a 92-92 lock with just under a minute to go. Ingram had the games' only double-double with 20 points and 11 boards.
