Philadelphia, PA-  Philadelphia University Athletic Director Tom Shirley has announced that former West Chester University (WCU) Men's Basketball Head Coach Dick DeLaney will join Men's Basketball Head Coach Herb Magee's staff as the newest volunteer assistant men's basketball coach.

DeLaney retired as WCU's Men's Head Basketball Coach in June of 2008 after 21 seasons at the helm. He left the position as the school's all-time wins leader in men's basketball coaching history, compiling a record of 370-213 (.635).

A 1969 graduate of WCU, DeLaney guided the Golden Rams to 17 winning seasons (eight 20-win seasons), winning Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) coach of the year honors five times, producing four PSAC Eastern Division titles and earning five NCAA playoff berths.

DeLaney taught and coached at PhilaU from 1975-1987. During his tenure at the school, he worked as an assistant men's basketball coach under Magee. He also coached baseball, tennis and was an assistant soccer coach.

He is a member of the West Chester University Athletic Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia University Athletic Hall of Fame and the Philadelphia Area Small College Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
