Men's Basketball Locker Room Naming Could Create a Permanent Tribute in Billy Keane's Honor

Letter
Dear Friends and Family of Billy Keane:
Billy Keane touched our lives in many ways. A caring big brother, a
loving fiancée and to many of us, just a fun loving, great
friend that we could laugh with and always count on when you
needed him the most.
On June 10th, 2009 Billy lost his courageous, 16
month battle with cancer. This loss has left a
huge hole in all of our hearts. Billy's battle was an inspirational
one that taught us a lot about
courage, faith, and to never giving up the fight!
As you are probably aware, some of Billy's fondest memories and
funniest times revolved around his four years at Philadelphia
Textile (now Philadelphia University). Billy enjoyed a successful
basketball career and at the same time shared it with many of his
closest family and friends.
Billy's sister Karen Smith and Billy's
fiancée, Nancy Beacham, are also graduates of the
school.
Billy's parents, Tom and Joan and his sister Cindy were also huge
basketball fans and could always be spotted at the Philadelphia
Textile gym cheering on Billy and the Rams.
A few of Billy's friends have come together in the hopes of creating a permanent tribute to Billy for many years to come. With the help of the Magee family and Philadelphia University, we have an opportunity to create a permanent tribute in Billy's honor by naming the Philadelphia University Men's Basketball Team locker room after him.
In order to complete this worthy undertaking, we
need your help! Our goal is to raise a minimum of $30,000.00
to obtain naming rights to the locker room. Our goal is to raise
these funds by October 1, 2009. The dedication of
the Billy Keane Locker Room will take place after the Philadelphia
University (Textile) Men's Basketball Alumni Game on Saturday
January 9th, 2010 - we hope that you will be able to be there for
this event. Coach Herb
Magee has also agreed to honor Billy by naming the Alumni Game -
The Billy Keane Annual Alumni Classic.
"Sometimes in life, you find a special friend -someone who changes your life just by being a part of it - someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop - someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world -someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is forever friendship. We need not worry -we all had Billy, a forever friend, and forever has no end."
Your support is greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Friends of Billy Keane
