PhilaU Mens Basketball to Bring in Three Recruits for 2009-10
Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University men's basketball will add three freshmen to their 2009-10 roster this coming fall, as announced by head coach Herb Magee. The three student-athletes are Jim Connolly (Harleysville, PA/ Souderton Area), Edward DiRugeris (Plymouth Meeting, PA/ Pennsbury) and Mike Delaney (Springfield, PA/ Springfield).
The Rams graduated two players at the end of the 2008-09 season, guards Mike Dunn and Carroll Mitchell.
The new class is loaded with back court talent, including 6'0 point guard DiRugeris who was a two-time All-Suburban One selection as well as an All-District One 3rd-Team pick as a senior. He played two years at Germantown Academy before transferring to Pennsbury for his final two high school seasons. DiRugeris was also an honor roll student at Pennsbury.
Connolly, a 6'3 guard, was a three-time all-conference selection at Souderton and an All-Conference 1st Team pick as a senior. He averaged 20 ppg in his senior year, while also earning All-District 3rd Team and All-Southeastern PA Honorable Mention. As a junior he averaged 18 ppg and was named All-Intelligencer 1st Team.
Delaney, a 6'0 guard served as team captain at Springfield (Delaware County) High School in his senior year. He was a two-year starter and also plans on playing baseball at PhilaU.
