Philadelphia, PA- Thursday night (11/18) at 5:45 p.m. in the Gallagher Athletic Center, Philadelphia University men's basketball coach Herb Magee and women's coach Tom Shirley will be honored for reaching the 1,500 wins mark in a brief pre-game ceremony. This milestone was achieved on Tuesday night in a men's 66-60 road victory at St. Thomas Aquinas College in Sparkill, NY.

The duo of Magee and Shirley are the winningest combination in collegiate basketball today, second only to the University of Connecticut's Geno Auriemma and Jim Calhoun, who carried 1,558 wins into the start of the 2010-11 season. Magee and Shirley have topped some of the best NCAA DI coaches, including Tennessee's Pat Summit/ Bruce Pearl (1,480) and UNC's Roy Williams and Sylvia Hatchell (1,445).
The PhilaU duo has been coaching at the University for a staggering 66 seasons combined. PhilaU President Dr. Stephen Spinelli will be on hand to personally congratulate both coaches before the women's team tips off vs. Washington Adventist University at 6 p.m. on Herb Magee Court.
