Philadelphia, PA- In a bench-gripping performance, the Philadelphia University Rams (7-5, 2-1 CACC) pulled off a 72-70 buzzer-beater win over Bridgeport University (3-6, 3-1 ECC) on Thursday night at the Gallagher Athletic Center.

PhilaU junior center Temi Adebayo, a 7-0 transfer from Saint Joseph's University, had the game-winner, a put-back as the clock ran out on a miss from the game's high scorer- PhilaU sophomore guard Jim Connolly.  Connolly led all players with 21 points, while Adebayo's 18 point, 12 rebound, three block performance was a career-best.

Both Adebayo and Connolly are currently tops in the nation in two different categories, Connolly ranks #5 in free-throw percentage (95%), while Adebayo unofficially is #3 in blocks/game (3.88).

In tonight's conquest, neither team led by more than five points in the first half as UB pulled ahead 35-30 at the half.

However, the Rams got hot in the second stanza shooting 59% from the floor and leading by as many as seven (57-50) at 9:30.  UB's three-point shooting kept them alive, as their high scorer Jermaine Washington had 18 points (four three's) on the night, while teammate Dave Boykin also nailed four from downtown.

The final tie came with 16 seconds remaining, on a good free-throw by UB's Josh Martin at 70-70.  Coach Magee called a timeout after that play and a Connolly missed jumper with two seconds was pulled down by Adebayo, who took it up for the winning bucket.

Also notching double digits for the Rams were junior forward Corey Francisco with 15 points and six rebounds and senior forward Ola Sasona who added 10 points and five boards.

Next up for PhilaU will be a road game at CACC rival Felician College on Saturday (1/8) at 3 p.m., following a women's 1 p.m. game that gives PhilaU women's Head Coach and Athletic Director Tom Shirley his first shot at 600 career wins (he currently has 599).
