Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University men's basketball (14-9, 9-5 CACC) held on in a wild one at the Gallagher Athletic Center for a 75-72 win on Tuesday night over the visiting University of the Sciences Devils (10-10, 6-8 CACC). PhilaU senior guard Chris Kuntz exploded for a career-high 24 points in the victory.
USci was led by William Kernan's 23 points.
In a contest that saw six lead changes and 47 total personal fouls, the Rams charged out to as many as 10 points (24-14 at 3:42) in the first half, holding on for a 25-21 halftime advantage.
PhilaU's Kuntz shot 6-10 from the three-line on the night, sinking one at 12:58 in the second, right after PhilaU sophomore guard Jim Connolly (18 points, eight rebounds on the night) nailed a trey to make it 38-32 at 12:58.
The Rams surged out to their largest lead in the ball game at 60-47 (3:32) on two good free-throws by junior guard Corey Francisco (who tallied 11 points on the night). PhilaU was 11-12 at the free-throw line in the final minute, as senior forward Ola Sasona picked up 10 points on the evening.
PhilaU plays next in their final regular season home game on Saturday(2/19) vs. Post University at 4 p.m.
