Welcome Back and Press Conference Video

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University men's basketball coach Herb Magee was greeted by an enthusiastic crowd as he was welcomed back to campus after being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

The annoncement was made live Monday, April 4th on NBA TV in Houston, where the NCAA Championship game was played later that night. Magee will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame during festivities in Springfield, Mass., on August 12th.

The Hall of Fame coach made his grand entrance into the Gallagher Center on Philadelphia University Tuesday and was greeted by excited players, students and staff. A press conference followed with Magee and PhilaU President, Dr. Stephen Spinelli.

"He's a great coach," remarked Spinelli, "He might be an even better educator."

Magee spoke of how proud he was to be honored by the Hall of Fame committee and what a great experience it was to be amongst some of the best players in the game. He also spoke of his connection and dedication to the city of Philadelphia and Philadelphia University. The legendary coach has turned away numerous offers including ones from NCAA DI programs and the NBA.

"I was offered a couple positions in the NBA as an assistant coach," said Magee, "I'm not going to do something like that, this is where I belong. This is where I live."

While the thrill of being inducted into the Hall of Fame is still fresh on his mind, Coach Herb Magee is back in action preparing for the 2011-12 basketball season at PhilaU.
