NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Freshman guard Andre Gibbs (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) has been tabbed as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) men's basketball rookie of the week for the second consecutive week by the conference office Monday.
Gibbs—now a three-time CACC rookie of the week—poured in 21 points, one shy of his career-high, grabbed five rebounds and dished out four assists in Philadelphia's 77-53 victory over Post on Jan. 5. He shot 6-of-12 from the field, including 3-of-6 from three-point range.
In the CACC, Gibbs is first in minutes per game (39.2), fourth in free throw percentage (87.5), 11th in assists (42), and scoring (14.5 points per game). He is leading the team in minutes per game, free throw percentage, and assists, and second in scoring.
Philadelphia (8-5, 4-1 CACC) heads to University City to take on the University of the Sciences for a CACC southern division battle on Wednesday, Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. A win would make head coach Herb Magee the first NCAA men's basketball coach to reach 950 career wins.
