NEW HAVEN, Conn. – A 21-point, 13-rebound performance against Holy Family propelled Philadelphia University freshman forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) rookie of the week award on Monday.
Alexis—the CACC rookie of the week for the third time this season—recorded his eighth double-double of the year in the 60-59 loss to the Tigers on Feb. 6. He also shot 58.8 percent (10-of-17) from the field and blocked two shots. Ten of his 13 rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor.
This season, Alexis is averaging 13.0 points per game and 8.2 rebounds per game. He is shooting 59.9 percent from the floor and has blocked 39 shots. Alexis is second in the CACC in field goal percentage, third in blocks, and seventh in rebounding.
Philadelphia (13-7, 8-3 CACC) hosts Wilmington (Del.) in a CACC clash Tuesday in the Gallagher Center at 8 p.m.
