Alexis tabbed CACC men’s basketball defensive player of the week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University sophomore forward Peter Alexis (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Holy Redeemer) earned the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference's (CACC) men's basketball defensive player of the week award on Monday.

In two CACC victories for the Rams last week, Alexis averaged 10.5 rebounds—8.0 on the defensive end of the floor—and 2.5 blocks. He recorded seven defensive rebounds—10 total rebounds—three blocks, and one steal in a 75-64 win over Wilmington on Feb. 5. Three days later Alexis had nine of his 11 rebounds come on the defensive side of the floor to go with two blocks in an 81-73 triumph at Post. Offensively, Alexis netted 18 points against Wilmington and 19 against Post.

Alexis—a two-time CACC men's basketball player of the week—is second in the conference in rebounding (9.6 per game), field goals made (179), field goal percentage (60.1 percent), double-doubles (11), and minutes per game (38:05). He is also fifth in scoring (18.5 points per game) and ninth in blocks per game (1.52). Nationally, Alexis is ranked fifth in minutes per game, sixth in field goals made, and 13th in double-doubles.

Philadelphia (18-5, 12-2 CACC) will go for its eighth straight win when it travels to Chestnut Hill for a CACC contest on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 8 p.m.
