PHILADELPHIA – Derek Johnson (Conshohocken, Pa./Atlantic Christian) and Nick Schlitzer (Pottsville, Pa./Pottsville) each scored 21 points as the Philadelphia University men's basketball team picked up a 77-47 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over visiting Caldwell Saturday afternoon in the Gallagher Center.

Philadelphia, now a winner in its last five outings, improves to 14-5 overall and 8-2 against the CACC. The Rams move their home record to 8-0.

The victory marks the 999th in the 48-year career of Hall of Fame head coach Herb Magee. Magee will get his first chance to join the 1,000-win club on Tuesday, Feb. 3 against Wilmington at 7:30 p.m. in the Gallagher Center.

Philadelphia used two baskets in the final 48 seconds of the first half to go into the locker room with a 29-25 lead.

Guard Andre Gibbs (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) grabbed a rebound off of a Johnson miss and hit his put back attempt on the right block to put the Rams up 27-25. Forward TJ Huggins (Alexandria, Va./T.C. Williams) stole the ball away from Caldwell's Dawan Lighty to give the Rams the final possession of the half. Schlitzer converted the steal into a successful 17-foot jumper from the top of the key with five seconds left to get Philadelphia a four-point halftime lead.

Philadelphia made of eight of its nine shot attempts during the run, which was ended with four straight 3-pointers—two from Johnson and two from Schlitzer. Schlitzer was the leader of the surge with 10 points.
