LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – The Philadelphia University golf team finished in a tie for seventh-place at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Fall Invitational held at the par-72 ACE Club Tuesday afternoon.
Led by Jayson Gonzalez-Adams (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico/Colegio Rosa-Bell), Philadelphia had a team score of 321 (+33), finishing in a tie with Felician for seventh.
Gonzalez-Adams was the team's leading golfer for the first time this season with a score of 78 (+6), a five-shot improvement over his collegiate debut at The ACE Club on Sept. 30, and finished tied for 17th.
Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown), Thomas Lucci (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Chagrin Falls), and Nicholas Nguyen (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) all finished in a group separated by two strokes. Mahal was in a deadlock for 27th with a round of 80 (+8). Lucci was a shot back at 81 (+9) to end up tied for 29th, while Nguyen carded an 82 (+10) to wind up tied for 33rd.
Dan Carpenter (Elkton, Md./Bohemia Manor) completed the Philadelphia lineup with the 49th-place score of 95 (+23).
Wilmington had two players shot under-par to win the team title with a score of 290 (+2). Post's Jose Luis Martinez had a round of 68 (-4) to claim the individual crown by three shots.
Philadelphia returns to action against Dowling on Monday, Oct. 12 at 12:30 p.m. at The ACE Club.
