LAFAYETTE HILL, Pa. – Led by top-10 finishes from Nicholas Nguyen (North Huntingdon, Pa./Norwin) and Peter Mahal (Great Meadows, N.J./Hackettstown), the Philadelphia University men's golf team took third place in the PhilaU Quad Match against Concordia (N.Y.), Chestnut Hill, and Nyack Tuesday at the ACE Club.
The Rams finished the day with a team score of 326 (+38), two shots behind runner up Chestnut Hill (324, +36) and four shots in front of Nyack (330, +42). Concordia was the team winner with a score of 301 (+13).
Nguyen was Philadelphia's top golfer in the event as he carded a 74 (+2) to finish in a tie for fourth place. Mahal was deadlocked for ninth place after shooting a 78 (+6).
Kyle Zeller (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) had a round of 85 (+13) to end up in 17th place. Austin Regan (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) and Nick Geracimos (Chesapeake City, Md./Bohemia Manor) tied for 19th overall as they both shot 89 (+17).
Jacob Williams (Mohrsville, Pa./Schuylkill Valley) competed in the match as an individual and shot 90 (+18) to finish in 20th.
Nyack's Elliot Wakefield came in first place in the 21-player field after shooting the winning score of 71 (-1).
Philadelphia will take part in the Swarthmore Tri-Match on Wednesday, April 12 at Springhaven Country Club.
