Varsity Four advances to second day of the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's Varsity Four boat advanced to the semifinal round of the Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta Friday morning on the Schuylkill River.

The boat—consisting of Logan Smith, Kevin Hines, Zach Wilmarth, Chris Valotta, and coxswain Alex Jones—finished the 2,000-meter course second in its heat with a time of 6 minutes, 53.307 seconds. Ohio State posted a heat-winning time of 6:50.688.

UMass-Lowell (6:59.171), Dowling (6:59.268), Cleveland State (7:17.448) and Vassar (7:35.407) completed the heat results.

The Rams move on to Saturday's semifinal round and will compete against Franklin & Marshall, Grand Valley State, Minnesota, Western Ontario, and Milwaukee SOE. The race goes off at 9:57 a.m. with the top two teams going through to the final. The race for the Thomas A. Curran Cup is at 3:30 p.m.

The Rams' Varsity Pair came in fifth place in its heat with a time of 8:33.295. Jack Walsh and Kristopher Vosk competed in the boat.
