Former University Soccer Star Drafted in First Round by Hometown Kixx

Philadelphia University soccer great Chris Williams '05 is set to return home for the upcoming indoor season, after being selected number seven overall in the first round of the 2007 Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) Supplemental Draft by the defending champion Philadelphia Kixx.
Williams was a four-year starter at defender for the Rams from 2002-05, and was named a first-team all-star in both the Philadelphia Soccer Seven and the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) after his junior and senior campaigns.
Williams, a senior co-captain in 2005, currently plays outdoor soccer for Miami FC in the United Soccer League (USL) First Division, after stints with the New York Red Bulls Developmental Team in Major League Soccer (MLS) and the Ocean City (N.J.) Barons of the USL's Premier Development League (PDL).
Kixx Vice President of Soccer Operations and Player/Coach Don D'Ambra says that Williams is "big, strong, athletic and fast," and that he "has the tools to reach the next level." Chris was selected to train with the Kixx at their 2006-07 invitational combine, and D'Ambra mentioned that he "did well then, is doing well with Miami FC now and the timing is better [for Chris] to break into indoor this season."
Williams seeks to become the third former Ram on the Kixx' current roster, which includes goalkeeper Peter Pappas '94 and fellow defender Pat Morris '98, both members of the Philadelphia University Athletic Hall of Fame. Pappas and Morris were named to the All-MISL First Team during the Kixx' 2006-07 championship season; with Pappas also honored as Goalkeeper of the Year.
A native of Elkins Park, Pa. and product of Cheltenham High School, Chris Williams graduated from Philadelphia University in 2005 with a degree in Business.
