McKale Leads Lady Rams to 6-0 Homecoming Win
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University women's soccer team (8-1-3, 6-0 CACC) picked up a 6-0 shutout in a homecoming match vs. the Bloomfield College Lady Deacons (2-8, 0-6 CACC) on Saturday. Sophomore forward Kristin McKale (Huntingdon Valley, PA/ Lower Moreland) led the PhilaU squad with two goals.
McKale opened the game with a goal just five minutes in, assisted by sophomore forward/midfielder Gabrielle Haden (Freehold, NJ/ Coltsneck). Sophomore Erin Walter (West Islip, NY/ W. Islip) added another score in the 15th minute on a header, assisted by freshman midfielder Maura Kasierski (Chariton, MA/ Shepard Hill).
McKale added her second goal at the 20:47 mark, cutting hard right to lose her defender and then knocking the ball into the right side of the net.
In the second half, Haden knocked in a goal from 18 yards out to give the Lady Rams a 4-0 advantage, assisted by junior midfielder Natalie Vespe (Acto, NJ/ St. Joseph). Freshman forward Trisha Sileo (Islip, NY/ Islip) headed the ball in for a 5-0 lead, assisted by fellow Long Islander Melissa Copeland (Islip Terrace, NY/ East Islip).
PhilaU freshman forward Lauren Pfister (Moorestown, NJ/ Moorestown) scored the first goal of her career with just 12 minutes left, assisted by freshman forward Nicole Grimm (Stroudsburg, PA/ Stroudsburg) to make the final 6-0.
PhilaU freshman goalie Kelli Kowalewski (Shamong, NJ/ Seneca) had one save, while sophomore Lady Ram Rebecca Della Peruta (Haddon Heights, NJ/ Haddon Heights) made three stops. BC keeper Adriana Moreno had 16 saves.
The Lady Rams continue their home stand on Tuesday (10/6) vs. Kutztown University at 4:00 p.m. at Ravenhill Field.
