PhilaU Men’s Soccer Coach Matt Digney Resigns

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University men's soccer coach Matt Digney has resigned as the program's 11th coach for personal reasons, announced PhilaU Athletic Director Tom Shirley.  The resignation is effective immediately.

Digney led the storied Rams' program into a new era as the team transitioned from NCAA Division I to the Division II level during the 2008 season.  He held an overall record of 31-37-6 at PhilaU. 

The PhilaU men's soccer program has a storied tradition, having won 12 Soccer 7 Championships as a DI competitor, going to the NCAA Final Four twice ('78, '81) and winning the Atlantic Soccer Conference (ASC) in 2001. 

In 2009, Digney's squad finished with an 11-7 record as the #4 seeded Rams fell 4-0 in the CACC Quarterfinals to #5 Bloomfield College. 

Review of applications for a new coach will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. The position has a start date of spring 2010.
