Purnell selected to All-CACC first team
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Philadelphia University forward Ryan Purnell was named to the All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer first team Monday. The team was selected by the conference's 12 head coaches.
Purnell was tabbed for the all-CACC team for the third straight season. In 2010 he was named to the first team and was a second team selection in 2009. This year Purnell is leading the Rams with eight goals and 18 points despite playing in just 10 games due to injury. He has the ninth-highest goal total and 13th-highest point total in the CACC. Purnell had a five-point game (two goals, one assist) in a 3-2 win over Concordia and a pair of goals as the Rams knocked off Nyack 2-0.
In his three years wearing a Ram uniform Purnell has tallied 20 goals, 16 assists and 56 points.
Philadelphia wrapped up its 2011 season with an overall record of 5-11 and a 3-8 mark against the CACC.
