PHILADELPHIA – Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) head coach Ptah Myers and the Jefferson men's soccer team announced its 2017 fall schedule on Monday. The 18-match slate begins on the last day of August, featuring nine home contests and 12 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) affairs.
"We as a program are very excited about this upcoming season," said Myers. "Not only because it's a new year but specifically, we are starting a new era with us as Jefferson. We will be the first men's soccer team as Jefferson so my staff and student-athletes know it is important to do our best to make this a successful season to remember."
The Rams' new season opens with a tough midweek test on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 4 p.m. from Ravenhill Field against West Chester, who played in the 2016 NCAA Tournament a year ago.
From there, Jefferson is back at home for its second match the following week on Wednesday, Sept. 6 to host Bloomsburg at 4 p.m. The next three contests for the Rams come on the road at Post to open CACC play on Sept. 9, at Mercy on Sept. 12 and then at Caldwell on Sept. 15. for another conference match.
The Rams are home again on Tuesday, Sept. 19 at 2:30 p.m. in a conference matchup against Georgian Court followed by two road tests at Molloy and Dominican (N.Y.) on Sept. 21 and 23 to close out the week.
Jefferson closes September at home on Wednesday, Sept. 27 against Holy Family at 4 p.m. before playing at Felician on Sept. 30.
October begins with two home tilts on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at 4 p.m. as the Rams host Goldey-Beacom before Concordia (N.Y.) come to town on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 2:30 p.m. for Homecoming Day.
Jefferson then faces another tough nonconference test at Millersville, who had a 2016 squad ranked inside the top-20, on Oct. 10.
The Rams then host LIU Post on Thursday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. before Bloomfield on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2:30 p.m.
The Rams face Chestnut Hill on Oct. 17 for a road affair before returning to Ravenhill Field on Saturday, Oct. 21 for the final regular-season home match of the year at 2:30 p.m. against Nyack.
The regular season finishes up with a conference battle at Wilmington on Oct. 25.
The CACC Championship begins with first round action on Monday, Oct. 30 with the top seeds serving as home sites. The semifinal and final rounds on Friday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 5 will be played at Georgian Court in Lakewood, N.J.
