Torroella-Cruz Wins CACC Singles Championship, Teams with Sgouros to Win Doubles

Philadelphia, PA- It was a great day for PhilaU men's tennis as both the CACC Singles and Doubles Championship featured an entirely Ram lineup, guaranteeing a complete PhilaU sweep of the CACC Team, Singles and Doubles Championships.
Freshman #1 singles player Adrian Torroella-Cruz (Gainesville, FL/ Gainesville) defeated fellow rookie teammate Manoli Sgouros (Forest Hills, NY/ Holy Cross HS) 6-1, 6-0 to become the first CACC Singles Champion. With the win he was also named both 'Player of the Year', and 'Rookie of the Year'.
In the CACC Doubles Championship match, the #1 team of Torroella-Cruz/Sgouros picked up their first doubles title, defeating sophomore teammates Tom McAvoy (Phoenixville, PA/ Phoenixville) and Seppi Hutter (Bellevue, WA/ Bellevue) 8-3.
All four PhilaU men earned All-Conference honors for their performances. The team will await the decision of the NCAA East Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) to determine if they will receive a bid to the NCAA East Regional Tournament held May 7-10th.
