NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Manoli Sgouros and Ryan Christopher were named the 2012 All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's tennis team Wednesday afternoon. The team was voted on by the conference's seven head coaches.
An honorable mention selection in 2011, Sgouros is a first-team pick in 2012. This season he has posted a singles record of 12-7 overall, 8-7 at No. 2 and 2-0 at No. 1 and 3, and 3-2 against the conference. In doubles, Sgouros posted a 14-6 overall mark, 13-6 in No. 1 matches, with three different partners and 5-1 in CACC play.
Christopher was named to the second team after going 12-8 overall, 5-1 in conference matches, in singles action and 14-6 overall, 5-1 against the CACC, as a doubles player. Christopher was primarily a No. 4 player in singles where he went 10-7. At No. 2 doubles action he teamed up with five different Rams to post a 14-5 mark.
Philadelphia went 9-11 overall during the season, and 4-2 against the conference to earn the third seed. The Rams take on second seed Chestnut Hill in a CACC Tournament semifinal match Saturday, April 21 at 1 p.m. The match is being played at top-seeded Concordia (N.Y.).
