Malloy takes steeplechase to pace Rams at the West Chester Open

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Tim Malloy won the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second consecutive week to lead the Philadelphia University men's track team at the West Chester Open, hosted by West Chester University, Saturday.

Malloy, a winner last week at the Mulhenberg Invitational, took the win at West Chester with a time of 10 minutes, 11.87 seconds. He won the race by 44 seconds.

Didier Barjon and Eric Lacy brought home top-five finishes for the Rams in the 1,500-meter run. Barjon was third after completing the race in 4:12.84, while Lacy posted a fifth-place time of 4:17.89.

In the 5,000-meter run, Franklin Overstreet crossed the finish line in fourth place with a time of 17:51.05.

Bryon O'Donnell was eighth in the 800-meter run, finishing the event in 2:03.34.

Philadelphia's next competition is the Collegiate Track Conference championship. Day one of the event is Saturday, April 21 at DeSales University.
