WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Philadelphia University men's outdoor track team opened its 2013 season at the Golden Ram Invitational hosted by West Chester University on a chilly Saturday afternoon.
The Rams turned in a strong showing in the 1,500-meter run, placing three runners in the top-10. Tim Malloy (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) was fifth in the 57-runner field with a time of 4 minutes, 08.84 seconds. Jim McShane (Philadelphia, Pa./Roman Catholic) was close behind Malloy in sixth after completing the race in 4:09.457. Eric Lacy (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) had a 10th-place time of 4:11.81.
Lacy also ran in the 800-meter run, where he finished eighth of out 58 competitors with a time of 2:02.95.
Mike DuVally (Glen Cove, N.Y./Chamindae) was sixth (11:08.90) and Kurt Palumbo (Philadelphia, Pa./Pennridge) was eighth (11:32.70) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase that featured nine competitors.
In the 400-meter dash, Eric Przyuski (Audubon, Pa./Methacton) was 17th of 45 runners with a time of 52.64.
Philadelphia now has two weeks to prepare for the Muhlenberg Invitational that will be held on Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m.
