NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sergei Cendo's (Cumberland, Md./Allegany) second race win of the 2017 season allowed him to be named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) co-male track athlete of the week on Monday.
Cendo—who shares this week's award with Bloomfield's Tyler Davidson—ran away from the field in the 5,000-meter run at the Osprey Open on April 15, posting a personal best time of 15 minutes, 25.07 seconds to win the race by the 31 seconds. It was Cendo's first time competing in the 5,000 this season.
He won his first race of the season on March 25, the 1,500-meter run at the Ursinus Invitational with a time of 4:05.98.
In addition to the 5,000, Cendo participated in the 4x800-meter relay over the weekend, running the opening leg. The Rams came in third with a time of 8:10.96.
Philadelphia's next event is the Widener Invitational on April 21-22 at Widener University.
