Men's Cross Country: 2008 Season Preview
The 2008 Phila. Univ. Men's team returns all it's letterwinners from the 2007 season. Head Coach Dave Thomas returns to his 3rd season . The Philadelphia Men's team was 2nd in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) in 2007 to Felician. The team won the Belmont Classic (out of 20 teams), and the Goldey-Beacom Invitational (out of 10 teams), and 2nd in the Philadelphia Metro Championships to Felician (out of 19 teams). The Men's team was 19th in the IC4A Championship (University Div) and 17th in the NCAA Div 2 East Region Championship in 2007.
Outstanding returning individuals will be All CACC Junior Shawn D'Andrea, 2nd in the CACC Championship running the 2nd fastest time in school history on the Belmont Plateau 8,000 meter course (27:29). Other returning All CACC are Andrew Piotrowski /Junior (10th in CACC/28:09) and Jeff Kopczynski/Sophomore (13th /28:25). Team also returns Kirk Tencate/Junior (16th in CACC/28:40) and Aaron Nawrot/Senior (18th CACC/28:58). Should have contributions from Dave Snyder (Junior) and incoming freshmen recruits Tyler Dye (De Lone Catholic, Pa) and Matt McDevitt (Highland Regional, NJ).
