Rainy Conditions Don't Stop Cross Country at Haverford Time Trials

Haverford, PA- In a wet debut to the 2008 season, the Philadelphia University men's and women's cross country teams ran in less than ideal conditions at the Haverford Time Trials on Friday night.

Junior Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VI) ran his way to first-place (15:24) for the second year in a row at the three-mile flat grass course, 30 seconds faster than his 2007 time.  Leading the way for the women was freshman Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) who finished in third (18:35).  Please note that this meet is a non-scoring meet and times are unofficial.  Head Coach Dave Thomas is expecting big things from his team leaders this season.

Rounding out the top three finishers for the men were Jeff Kopczynski (Blackwood, NJ/ Triton Regional)  (16:36) and junior Dave Snyder (New Providence, PA/ Solanco) who knocked 40 seconds off his time from last year (16:36).

Another freshman who made waves for Phila U., Gabrielle Dei Tos (Freeland, PA/ MMI Prep) was the next best women's finisher for the Lady Rams (19:53), and junior Faith Anderson (Dover, PA/ Dover) bested her 2007 performance by 57 seconds (20:25).

Cross Country will run next on Saturday, September 13th at the Wilmington University Invitational at Carousel Park.
