Philadelphia Runners D’Andrea, Simonetti Take CACC Weekly Awards

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University junior Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VII) was named Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Runner of the Week after winning the men's 8K in 26:38.90 at the Belmont Classic over the past weekend in Philadelphia.  D'Andrea has dominated the conference awards as he has won runner of the week honors three weeks in a row.

Lady Ram freshman Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) earned CACC Rookie of the Week honors after placing third overall in the women's 5K (19:42.9) also at the Belmont Classic over the weekend.  The rookie sensation has been just as dominant in her fledgling season, garnering CACC weekly honors five out of the six weeks they have been awarded.

D'Andrea and Simonetti are a big reason why the Rams are currently ranked #10 in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) eastern region poll, and the Lady Rams were named the #9 spot in the east.

Also earning CACC Honorable Mention were women's soccer players Lauren Golisano (Rochester, NY/ Our Lady of Mercy) and freshman Gabrielle Haden (Freehold, NJ/ Colts Neck).
