Steady Pace Leads XC to 3rd-Place Finishes at Cabrini Invite

Philadelphia, PA- The PhilaU cross country teams competed at the Cabrini College Invitational at Belmont Plateau in Philadelphia this weekend, as the men's team finished third overall of 14 teams and the women took third of 13 teams.

The men were led by the usual suspects: senior Shawn D'Andrea (Blackwood, NJ/ Paul VI) in seventh (26:55), senior Andrew Piotrowski (Warminster, PA/ William Tennant) in 13th (27:20) and sophomore Tyler Dye (Hanover, PA/ Delone Catholic) in 14th (27:27) in the men's 8K.  Wilmington took the men's crown, followed by Ramapo and then the Rams. 

Sophomore Sarah Simonetti (Perkasie, PA/ Pennridge) led the women in the 5K race, taking sixth overall (20:04).  She was followed by sophomore Gabrielle Dei Tos (Freeland, PA/ MMI Prep) in 17th (21:13) and junior Kaitlin O'Leary (Marlton, NJ/ Cherokee) in 22nd (21:22).  The women were beat by the Penn State Club in first and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Georgian Court in second-place. 

Both teams take the next week off in preparation for the CACC Championship on Saturday (10/24) at Belmont Plateau.
