BOSTON, Mass. – The Philadelphia University men's cross country team wrapped up its 2011 season with a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Division II Cross Country East Region meet Sunday afternoon at Franklin Park in Boston, Mass.
The Rams totaled 273 points in the 25-team event. Host UMass-Lowell won the regional with a score of 71. Stonehill had 77 points to record a second-place finish. UMass-Lowell and Stonehill advanced to the national championship meet.
Kip Kirui was the fastest Ram at the regional by completing the 10-kilometer course in 33 minutes, 00.4 seconds to place 30th. Tim Malloy came home in the 40th position after crossing the finish line in 33:29. Tyler Dye placed 56th with a time of 34:01.1 with Eric Lacy close behind in 60th after posting a mark of 34:09. Didier Barjon claimed Philadelphia's final scoring position by finishing 91st in a time of 35:06.1
Glarius Rop from American International won the regional championship by running the course in 29:50.7.
