Lady Rams Drop Non-Conference Twinbill at Shippensburg

The Philadelphia University softball team dropped a pair of non-conference contests at Shippensburg University on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Lady Raiders on the road. Head Coach John Kelly's squad, now 2-12 overall on the season, fell in a hard-fought 1-0 contest in the opener as Shippensburg scored the lone run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning before suffering an 8-0 setback in the second game.
Senior pitcher Jacque Curtis had an outstanding performance on the mound for the Lady Rams, allowing just one run on four hits in six innings of work. Shippensburg won the contest with a pair of back-to-back doubles by freshman shortstop Hope Cornell and junior third baseman Lori Knopf in the final inning of regulation to secure the victory.
In the second game, the Lady Rams fell behind 3-0 after two innings before the Lady Raiders tallied five times in the bottom of the sixth for the win. Senior first baseman Kelly McGrath (pictured), sophomore catcher Maggie Desmond and freshman outfielder Jen Richard each picked up a hit apiece for Philadelphia University in the setback.
Up next for Kelly and his squad will be Dominican College at home in a conference doubleheader on Saturday, March 29th.
