PhilaU Softball Selected #9 in CACC Preseason Poll

New Haven, CT- The Philadelphia University softball team has been selected #9 in the 2009 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Preseason Poll, as voted upon by the league's 13 head coaches and released today.  Caldwell College was picked first, followed by Georgian Court University in second-place.

The Lady Rams finished last season with a 14-30, 10-14 CACC record.  Head Coach John Kelly returns for his fourth year, and opens the season on March 9th at Millersville for a 2:30 PM doubleheader.  Two key players return for the Lady Rams, including sophomore outfielder Jen Richard (.343/49 hits/4 stolen bases) and junior catcher/outfielder Maggie Desmond (.331/43 hits/26 RBIs).  PhilaU also has a new rookie pitcher, 5-8 righty Ali Schmidt.
