Softball Announces Incoming Recruits for Class of 2013

Philadelphia, PA- Philadelphia University head softball coach John Kelly has announced his freshman class of 2013.  Kelly will bring four student-athletes this coming fall onto a Lady Ram team that had a record 25 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) wins in 2009.

"We are fortunate to add more talent and depth to a team that had a very successful 2009 season," said Kelly.  "We expect great things from the newcomers and welcome them to our team and to the PhilaU community."

Three pitchers join the squad, including left-handed hurler/first baseman Alexandra Hultberg (Long Island, NY/ Hampton Bays)-who is expected to add speed to the Lady Ram's offense as well as contribute depth in the circle.  Left-handed pitcher/third baseman Nichole Rouse (Vineland, NJ/ Sacred Heart HS) is a six foot power-hitter who Coach Kelly expects to make an immediate impact as a freshman.  Rounding out the group is right-handed pitcher/utility Nicole Singel (Downingtown, PA/ Downingtown East), a versatile player that will be counted on at more than one position.

Also joining the team will be shortstop/utility Kacie DeMaio (Highland Park, NY/ Highland Park), who hit .388 for her Hudson Valley Express Gold travel ball team.  Defensively, DeMaio has good range and quickness.
