Lady Rams Fall 6-2, 9-1 at Dominican
Orangeburg, NY- The Philadelphia University softball team (7-7, 4-2 CACC) dropped a doubleheader to the Dominican College Chargers (12-8, 5-1 CACC) on Sunday afternoon. The Chargers took game one 8-1 and ended the second game in early, taking it 9-1 in six innings.
Senior infielder Kristen Giamatteo (Bellmore, NY/Wellington Mepham) hit a two-run homer in game one to highlight the day.
In the first game, Giamatteo’s homer came in the fourth
for PhilaU’s only two RBIs in the contest. DC outhit
PhilaU 12-4, recording two runs in the fifth and three more in the
sixth to pull away with the 6-2 victory. PhilaU sophomore
hurler Ali Schmidt (Cordova, MD/ Easton) took the
loss but racked up seven strikeouts, while DC’s Katrina
Pistilli got the ‘W’.
Game two ended early in a 9-1 six inning loss for the Lady Rams, as
the team’s lone run came in the fourth on an error by the DC
second baseman. PhilaU senior pitcher Kelly
Rauco (Nutley, NJ/ Nutley) picked up the loss, while
DC’s Delaney Childers got the win.
PhilaU returns to action on Tuesday (3/30) at Georgian Court University for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader.
