Softball Stays Hot, Wins Two at Goldey-Beacom

Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University Lady (17-13, 9-5 CACC) notched two big road wins over Goldey-Beacom College (14-17, 6-14 CACC) on Thursday afternoon.  Senior infielder Kelly Rauco (Nutley, NJ/ Nutley) had the winning RBI in game one in the seventh inning.  For the day, Rauco went 5-8 at the plate. 

Game one featured three PhilaU runs scored in the first inning, taking an early 3-0 lead.  GBC tied it up 3-3 in the sixth, but PhilaU junior outfielder Jen Richard (Millstone, NJ/ Allentown) had the game-winning hit in the seventh to score Rauco for the 4-3 win.  PhilaU sophomore pitcher Ali Schmidt (Cordova, MD/ Easton) went the distance for the Lady Rams, getting three strikeouts and allowing just five hits. 

In the second game of the day, PhilaU scored a run in the third then exploded for six more in the fifth- helped by sophomore infielder Danielle Parisi (Teaneck, NJ/ WW Plainsboro N.) who went 2-3 with three RBIs on the day.  Sophomore catcher Katie Renner (Berryville, VA/ Brunswick) went 2-3, and senior DH Maggie Desmond (Bayport, NY/ St. John’s) had a double to score two runs.

Schmidt notched another win the second contest, getting five “KO’s” in six innings.

The Lady Rams return to action for a 3 p.m. doubleheader at Post University on Saturday (4/17).
