Softball Sweeps USP 5-2, 9-5 on the Road
Philadelphia, PA- The Philadelphia University softball team (22-14, 14-6 CACC) picked up two wins against city rival the University of the Sciences (13-21, 11-11 CACC) on Thursday evening. The Lady Rams have now won 12 of 13 straight games heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
PhilaU won 5-2 in the first game and took the night cap 9-5.
The Lady Rams were led offensively by sophomore designated hitter Danielle Parisi (Teaneck, NJ/ WW Plainsboro N.) who socked a two-run homer in the second game and racked up three RBIs on the day.
On the rubber, sophomore hurler Ali Schmidt (Cordova, MD/ Easton) continued to dominate the competition, compiling 11 strikeouts and a win in game one while also adding two innings of work to close out the second game of the day.
Junior pitcher Randi Wozniak (Newtown Sq., PA/ Marple Newtown) picked up the win for the Lady Rams in game two, going three innings and allowing one earned run.
Senior infielder Kristen Giamatteo (Bellmore, NY/ Wellington Mepham) contributed three hits and two RBIs through both games.
PhilaU returns to their home field on Saturday (4/24) for Senior Day vs. Nyack College, the doubleheader begins at noon.
