Softball Stung By #5 Caldwell in Two CACC Losses

Caldwell, NJ- The Philadelphia University Lady Rams (24-18, 16-8) did  not get the results they’d hoped for in two losses to the #5 East region Caldwell College Cougars (40-12, 23-3 CACC) on Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Rams were run ruled 8-0 in six innings in game one and then lost 1-0 in the second competition of the day.  PhilaU now heads to Post University for their final games of the regular season on Sunday (5/2) at 12:00 p.m.

The Lady Rams were held scoreless all day, as the Cougars tallied six hits in three innings off PhilaU sophomore pitcher Ali Schmidt (Cordova, MD/ Easton).  Schmidt took both losses, giving up 10 hits and five earned runs on the day.

CC’s  Brittany Pulido earned the game one win and Kourtney Wilson shut down PhilaU to get the ‘W’ in game two.

In the second game, CC generated the winning run in the bottom of the second inning on Patti Garofolo RBI single up the middle.  PhilaU senior Maggie Desmond (Bayport, NY/ St. John’s) went 4-7 at the plate offensively for the day, including two doubles in game two.  Desmond would spark a seventh inning rally, leading off with a double but the final two PhilaU batters went down swinging to make it a 1-0 loss.
